My Father's World- Bb for Butterfly

We finished My Father's World-K on February 28th!!! Em is fascinated with butterflies and I thought it would be nice to save the Butterfly unit as our last lesson for Kindergarten.

Words to Remember:

God can make me new.
BIBLE
We discussed how God can change our hearts from hating him to loving him. We are all sinners and we don't love God. The only way we can love God is by Him working in our hearts through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Then I pointed back to how the caterpillars become butterflies. At first, I was kind of wondering how I am going to explain this truth to Em but then I was amazed at her response. She said that, "Oh, just like what my Bible says about Paul. He is a changed man!" She narrated the life of Paul and I thought that it was an awesome moment of learning- how she remembers the Bible account of Paul's life. I was speechless and I couldn't help but praise God that Em is learning the truth about God.

We also discussed about Zaccheus (Luke 19:1-9) and Colossians 3:9-14.

Memory Verse

At the end of the week, Em memorized 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Here is a video of Em memorizing the verse:

SCIENCE

We learned about The Life Cycle of a Butterfly.

She acted out the four stages of a butterfly's life:
All curled up like an egg.

 Crawling like a caterpillar

Still like a chrysalis.

Flying like a butterfly.

Here is Em trying a Monarch Butterfly wings on from our museum visit last October 2013.

Since I am giving birth in a month,we decided to order caterpillars after I give birth. Just wanna make sure that we are home when the butterflies emerge, which is 3 to 4 weeks from the caterpillar stage.

Some of her finished works:

Handwriting

Narration

ARTS AND CRAFT

Drawing

We made some butterflies and learned a little about symmetry. Ideas and instructions are from Mama Jenn.

Here is Z working on his butterfly. He enjoyed the whole process: from mixing the paints to pressing on the cardstock and opening the finished product. He was proud to show Em his painting.

Z's butterfly

We also made a Monarch Butterfly Art from KidWorldCitizen.

She really enjoyed painting and her finished product turned out cute. I was worried that the black glue paint will all smudge up that's why we didn't put enough black paint. We are planning to do it again and make a thicker black outline.

Other craft
I let Em choose some pom-poms and I surprised her with this clothespin caterpillar. Z saw it and requested for a blue one.

MUSIC TIME
Listening to classical music while flying and dancing like a butterfly.

WORDS TO REMEMBER
Copywork and Badge

Our caterpillar from all the badges she earned.

Caterpillar badges from Training Them Up

Here are all our Words to Remember cards turned into fridge magnets. We used business card magnets like these.

SNACKS

Surprise!

Idea is from here.

FiELD TRIP
To celebrate our last MFW-K unit, we had a mini-field trip where she enjoyed a train ride and a pony ride.

Praise God for My Father's World and thank God for the opportunity and the blessing to teach Em and Z. To God be the glory!
